We didn't spend much time in Houston, it was super rainy! But, I had found a couple of parks that I wanted to check out so we drove straight to the first one and I jumped out of the car and ran around and took pictures. By the time we got to the second park the rain had cleared up a little bit so Remy was able to get out and stretch his legs too. Next to the second park was this house that was transformed into an amusement park. It was so cool looking, and kinda looked like a set from a horror movie. I'm sure it would have been neat. There was a ton of rain in the forecast so we decided to keep moving with our next stop being Austin.

So basically as soon as we got into Austin everything changed! From being cold, wet and rainy in Houston, Austin was sunny, warm and delightful. We had been given a few recommendations of where to eat but eventually we got distracted by all of the cool houses and food trucks! We ate a little backwards (but not that we think so) and started with THE MOST DELICIOUS doughnuts I have ever had!! Gourdough's you did not disappoint! And then we wandered a little farther down the street for some amazing tacos at Torchy's Tacos. Uh YUM! I was pretty bummed we didn't get to stay longer but it was already dark and we had at least another hour of driving to get to our camp site. Oh yeah did I mention we were tent camping the whole way with a cat, dog and rabbit? Yeah, we are crazy!
This night was definitely one to remember! As we were driving closer to our campground the lightening got crazier and crazier!!! You could see at least 10 lightening strikes touching down at one time! We totally contemplated throwing in the towel and staying at a hotel, but somehow we managed to get the tent up just as the rain came POURING down! Let me just say that our tent was made for more fare weather conditions. Everything was so soaked from getting dumped on all night. Thankfully the storm for us wasn't really all that bad, because this storm continued on to Louisiana and caused some fatalities. Anyway, moral of the story is we need to go back and spend more time in Austin! I fell in love with it right away!
Stay tuned for the next post about Waco & the Magnolia Market!
I love taking pictures. Whether it is of people, animals or landscapes I am always running around trying to get the best shot. Just ask my husband, I am always annoying him with pictures ;).
